Hi everyone. I hope you had a great weekend (and Fourth of July if you’re in the US). We just got back from Disneyland last night. My four year old was in heaven and couldn’t get enough of the rides. My husband and I were just happy to be on vacation. I also got some pool time in which was the icing on the cake. I’ll share some of my pics on Friday.
My “Inspired by…”series has been on hiatus for awhile so that my arm could heal. I’m ready to start it up again now that I’m feeling better.
Lately I’ve been inspired by the knitted lampshade covers I’m seeing everywhere. Have you seem them yet?
The one above is actually my favorite. It’s a nice pop of color in an otherwise all white room. The stripes give it a perfect amount of texture and visual interest. It’s on a small lampshade so it’s not too overbearing in the space. If you check out Benita’s post about making this lampshade you’ll see that she used a knitting loom set. Hobby Lobby sells one with different sizes that I want to try out.
This grey shade is crocheted in a chunky gray yarn. I really like the pattern on this one. The clear base is a brilliant idea since it keeps your eye focused on the shade. I could see using a pair of these as bedside lamps.
I’m seeing the cable knit shades everywhere. They’re interesting, but not my favorite. I think they remind me too much of a sweater sitting on a lampshade. I like this color, though.
I have this Grona Table Lamp from Ikea on my bookcase and have been wanting to do something fun with the outside. There are a lot of great ideas on Pinterest, but I think I’m going to try knitting a cover for it like the one Chez Larsson did above. I’ll let you know when I’m done. Wish me luck!!!
Are you inspired by the knitted shade look? Would you consider knitting one for your room (or buying one if you don’t knit)? There are tons of ideas on Pinterest. Check out my Board for a few of my favs.

They look cute….but remind me of winter…brrrrr
I don’t knit so if I was going to do this for a client, I’d have to get someone who knits
It’ll be fun to see your version when you’re done with it. Glad you had a great vacation!
I looove the knitted shade designs! Can’t wait to see how ur turns out (how EXCITING!!!!). I may try to DIY it for winter … don’t want my shades to catch a cold, right
