This week I’m loving all things Houndstooth. I may be a bit behind the times with this trend, but I’ve started seeing it everywhere and had forgotten that I like the look. It was popular in the 80′s when I was in high school. I had a cute black and white Houndstooth skirt that I loved.
Kind of like this one, but my hair was ten times the size of this chica’s hair
(check out this post‘s first pic to see me with big hair-I’m the blond)

This cute scarf is homemade. I’m a knitter so I can appreciate the hard work
that goes into this seemingly simple looking design. Great job Eve, whoever you are!

Speaking of Homemade. Check out these cookies.
I thought they were buttons at first.
I’m loving these boots from Target.
They’re super cheap at 25 bucks.
I’m going to get me some I think.
Onto designing with Houndstooth. I think I may be more apt to wear this design than use it in my home only because it’s such a strong pattern that you’d have to build your other colors and patters around it. Here a sampling of a few rooms I found that incorporate this design.
These chairs are super cute.
If you go to the link you’ll see that this is a pic from a women’s condo
and she incorporated Houndstooth in a few areas.
I’m liking this rug because it’s more subdued
and could be incorporated into more designs than the black and white version.
I’m not liking the pattern on the chairs with it though.

This is apparently from a French hotel.
I’m loving the pinks with the black and white.
Very chic for a hotel lobby.

So even though I’m a bit behind in loving this trend I noticed that it’s still alive and kicking. Many of the posts I read about it were from 2009 on. Is it just me or is anyone else embracing this design?
Hope you have a great week.
Your Fellow DIYer,

I love it, especially the scarf. I’m barely a knitter, but I can also appreciate the work that goes into it. Joy!Noreen
Houndstooth issss everywhere isn’t it!!! I like it in moderation. Too much of it scares me, kinda like animal print .. a little ok .. a lot scares me to stick with black haha!Have a GREAT day Lisa!!!!!!
It is one of those classic patterns that will never go out of style. Bonus that the black and white will go with virtually any color scheme. I can see why you’re embracing it!
Black and white couldn’t be more homogenized!! love this chic trend!
I still love hound’s tooth too, especially as an accent mixed with bright solids.- From a fellow BYW’er
